Mampong Babies Home
VAM in collaboration with the first lady of Equatorial Guinea, Mrs. Constancia Mangue de Obiang, shared a celebration during the past week honoring the children of Mampong Babies Home; an institution established by Anglican Missionaries.
The delegation of about twenty people including the staff of John William Montessori School, students of the Cornell University (USA) was led by Nana Kyeremah Oppong II the chief of Tanoso, Mrs. Nana Fosu Randall the founder of VAM and John William Montessori School.
The occasion was highlighted by presentation to the children of assorted food items worth about GHC 4000, which included boxes of neat fufu, rice, sardines, tomato paste and many other items, along with a donation of GHC 1000 to the children.
Superintendent Margaret Addae thanked Mrs. Fosu-Randall and heaped blessings of God upon her and her organization. The occasion also saw the presence of the Chief of Asante Mampong, Nana Osei Bonsu II and the Queen Mother of Mampong.
Mrs. Randall said as she held a baby, “I thank God I’m able to pick up a child and wipe his tears away. Every life is important, both the poor and the rich”. She hinted that, she has assisted other orphanage homes over the years and commended the first lady of Equatorial Guinea for her support and kindness to children.
Speaking to Garden City Radio, Mrs. Fosu-Randall revealed that she wishes to adopt children from the Babies Home, which includes two sets of twins, and a child whose mother left her just a day after she was born. She therefore appealed to authorities to allow her.
